Personally I don't believe any woman freely chooses that proffession (if they had another one to go to) and are truely happy with their choice. I know this because if you were to ask any of them if they had a daughter would their greatest wish to allow her body to be lusted over by men in such a way, I can gaurantee that they wouldn't want their little girls to grow up and do what they do...I'm sure they would do anything they can to prevent it. If it happened anyway...I'm sure they'd support their daughters the same way as they expect to be supported, but I know deep down they would wish something else for them...anything else, but being objectified by men. I'm sure their deepest wish for their daughters would NOT to perform for men in any way shape or form. The day women have true choices will be the day that the sex industry will collapse.

I would hazzard a guess that your insecurities about this stems from the expecations that this patriachal society has put onto women to be a certain way, act a certain way, look a certain way. The sex industry (created by men,..for men) allows this notion to perpetuate. Your fiance probably wouldn't have run off with some stripper, but the images that he sees will be burned into his brain and he will see these women as THE PERFECT WOMAN created for the sole purpose of gratifying men and this eats away at the very core of the type of man he wants to be...and in turn will eat away at the woman you want to be...and the relationship. I don't expect you to agree with me, in fact you probably won't...and that's ok. It's just something that I'm passionate about. xxx

As much as I can appreciate the rarity of a man making a stand against the sex industry..I will at the same time (at the risk of sounding a little unsympathetic) ... Say that, in all fairness, generalization from either side of this argument- would prove ignorant.
So, I will admit, that the feelings stirred up for me in this experience, came not from strippers being strippers (perfect manufactured boobs, freshly tanned bodies and lingerie I can't afford)...and possibly landing my man in bed...these feelings and insecurities came, in reality, from a deeper place that hasn't healed. But that doesn't make an interesting blog now does it! (just joking) ....with that said- we can't generalise (on your end) the reasons as to why women enter this profession. I will agree that it's safe to 'assume' that many might have low self esteem, and may be looking for reassurance in the wrong places...but I think there are plenty that are perfectly happy with themselves and still choose to dance for men. So be it. Their choice.
To make some sort of valid point here, I guess what I'm trying to say is this....
There are feelings we show, emotions we hide, what the populas assumes, the good eggs and the bad ones, the outright lie, the accusation, insecurities, good intention.........and somewhere amongst all that....the truth.

It's not just about the bucks night though, its the thought that your wonderful, soon to be, husband wishes to indulge in an industry created for the sole purpose of gratifying themselves. It objectifies women...women who are just like you and me, they are people in their own right who think, for whatever reason, that this is all they're worth. Any man who wishes to support such an industry doesn't deserve to be with a woman such as yourself. I could go on about our patriachal society who thinks it's ok to treat women this way but then I'd be here forever! xx

I think she's an extraordinary woman to put up with that although I can see it worked out but will it continue to work out? I'd worry about the trust, I'd worry about his committment. Ok so he checked out for a short time and got over it...great...but what if he hadn't? What if next time he didn't? Did she even talk to him about it? Have discussions on why he felt he needed to check out like that?
